Authorities seized multiple pieces of evidence from the Washington, D.C., apartment of Idaho murder suspect Brian Koberger, records show.

Among the evidence were items with “reddish or brown stains,” a computer tower and a disposable glove, according to a report Wednesday by The New York Times. Investigators also seized mattress covers and a vacuum cleaner dust container.

Mr. Kohberger is accused in the fatal stabbings of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13.

Officials said in the search warrant that they hope to find strands of hair that could link the suspect to the scene of the gruesome crime in November in Moscow, Idaho.

They said in the filing that it could be through the four victims or through a dog that was in the rental house at the time of the murders.

Police said one of the items found in the suspect’s apartment at nearby Washington State University was “a possible strand of animal hair.”

The victims’ longtime boyfriend created an Instagram account for their dog

Goncalves’ mother, Christy Goncalves, shared that Jack DuCoeur was behind an Instagram account dedicated to Murphy, the pet dog found in the home when police made the grim discovery on Nov. 13.

The dog was turned over to animal services and later released to Mr. DuCoeur.

Although the couple recently separated before Goncalves moved to Texas, they remained friendly, their relatives said.

In the account’s first post on Monday, Mr DuCoeur posted a photo of the Labradoodle with the caption: “I miss my mum everyday but I’m trying to live my best life. Tonight I must admire her beauty in the sky.

“This is a picture of me from the past. My mom loved this,” another post read.

The account now has more than 10,000 followers, with people commenting on heartfelt messages.

“It hurts my heart. You are a good boy Murphy. I’m so happy you and your dad have each other,” wrote an Instagram user. “You will be best friends for life. Much love and sympathy to all grieving Kaylee.”

Idaho killers suspect Brian Koberger’s casual comments about the murders

Suspected killer Brian Kochberger made an offhand comment about the murders of the four University of Idaho students while he was being extradited from Pennsylvania to Moscow to face charges in their murders, it has emerged.

A law enforcement source told People that the 28-year-old criminology PhD student spoke about the case with officers, saying it was “sad what happened” to Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

“He said, ‘It’s really sad what happened to them,’ but he didn’t say anything else.” He’s smarter than that,” said the source involved in the accused killer’s extradition process.

Mr Kochberger appeared “really nervous” on the journey back to Moscow and was talking aloud to himself in an apparent effort to calm down, the source added.

“He seemed really nervous. He was telling himself everything that was happening,” they said.

What was taken from Brian Koberger’s apartment?

Police investigating the slayings of four Idaho college students seized a series of items from suspect Brian Kochberger’s apartment, including possible strands of hair, a disposable glove, items with red and brown stains and a computer, according to a recently unsealed search warrant.

Investigators said in the search warrant that they hope to find strands of hair that could link the suspect to the scene of the gruesome crime in November in Moscow, Idaho.

They said in the filing that this could be done either through the four victims or through a dog that was in the rental house at the time of the killing, The New York Times reported.

Police said one of the items found in the suspect’s apartment at nearby Washington State University was “a possible strand of animal hair.”

In the documents, investigators said one item had a “collection of dark red” stains and that the pillow had a “reddish/brown stain” on it.

Here’s everything we know about Bryan Kohberger’s next court hearing

Suspected quadruple killer Brian Kochberger made a brief appearance in Moscow’s Latakh District Court last week for a status hearing on his murder case.

Mr. Kohberger only answered yes when asked if he understood his rights to an expedited preliminary hearing within the next 14 days and if he agreed to waive those rights.

His public defender Anne Taylor then asked that the next court date be postponed until June.

Prosecutors agreed to the request and the judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for the week of June 26.

The whole week is set aside for the hearing – when evidence in the case against Mr Kohberger will be presented in court for the first time and he is likely to plead to the charges.

His request for an adjournment before his next court appearance came after the defense asked the prosecution to turn over all discovery in the case within the next 14 days – including witness statements, digital media and police reports.

Ms Taylor told the judge that waiving the 14-day deadline would give the defense more time to review all the evidence in the case.

Now the families of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin will have to wait another six months to face their children’s accused killer in court.

Until then, Mr. Kohberger will be held behind bars in the Latah County Jail after being ordered held without bond for the second time.

Mr. Kohberger did not enter a plea at Thursday’s hearing — his second appearance in an Idaho court since he was extradited from Pennsylvania last week.

However, he is said to be planning to fight charges that he broke into a student dormitory in Moscow in the early hours of November 13 and stabbed the four students to death in a brutal knife attack.

A mother in an unsolved case in Oregon is hoping the Idaho murders will help find her son’s killer

The mother of a man who was stabbed in the middle of the night in 2021 along with his wife believes a focus on the Idaho murders could help find her son’s killer.

Online detectives discuss similarities between the murders of four University of Idaho students and the Oregon cold case of Aug. 13, 2021. Myra Juten, the mother of 26-year-old Travis Juten, said she hopes the Idaho case will bring attention to the stabbings to her son and his wife of 24 years, Jamilyn Yueten.

Ms Juetten said: “There are a lot of similarities. I have no proof that there is a connection. But I hope it will give new life to this case and bring attention to my son’s murder.

Travis and Jamilyn were stabbed in the middle of the night in Salem, Oregon while they slept. Travis died and Jamilyn survived after 19 stab wounds.

Ms Juetten told the News Nation show in Banfield that “my son was an amazing young man and it’s very difficult not to have answers. I just wish someone would step forward to provide that extra piece to the puzzle that we need.”

She continued: “I can’t even begin to grieve until I get an answer, so it’s very difficult for my family.”

Police investigating the murders of the four students have ruled out a possible connection to the knife attacks in Oregon.

Moscow police issued a statement that the August 2021 fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Travis Utern in Salem, Oregon, is not believed to be connected to the murders of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen.

“There have been numerous media inquiries regarding a 1999 double stabbing in Pullman, Washington, and a 2021 double stabbing (with one fatality) in Salem, Oregon,” the statement said.

“Although these cases share similarities … there does not appear to be any evidence to support that the cases are related.”
