West Ham have agreed a deal for striker Danny Ings from Aston Villa, with the Hammers set to pay around £15m for the England international.
Ings will join the London club from Villa, where he has scored six Premier League goals in 18 appearances this season, and will add further competition to the Hammers’ frontline alongside Gianluca Scamocca and Michail Antonio.
West Ham have scored just 15 goals in 19 league games this season, with their form in front of goal a major factor behind their struggles in the Premier League. They are 18th in the table, just ahead of Everton – who they face this weekend – and Southampton on goal difference.
Ings, 30, joined Villa from Southampton for £25m in 2021 but has not hit the same heights at Villa Park as he did at St Mary’s. However, the three-capped England striker has still scored 14 goals in 52 appearances for the Villans in all competitions.
Stunning additions could see Antonio leave the Hammers
Sky Sports News has been told that West Ham could consider bids for striker Michail Antonio if they sign two strikers in this window.
With Ings close to completing his move to the London Stadium, a move for Terem Moffi from Lorient is also not out of the question.
Lorient would accept West Ham’s offer – worth £25million – but the player is undecided on whether to move, according to a source.
There is interest in Antonio from the Premier League.

Earlier this week, when asked about a potential exit, Antonio said: “My agent is dealing with all of this and if something happens, something will happen. I’m at West Ham right now and I have to pay attention to that.
“If something changes, it changes. We have a striker and maybe we are looking for other strikers, because at the moment we are not doing that”.
Antonio has publicly criticized the club’s performances this week, telling the Footballers’ Football Podcast that their more expansive style of play this season “isn’t working”.
He said: “Teams are countering us the way we would counter them before. It’s a transition. We’re trying to transition to become a bigger team and, to be honest, it’s not working.”
The Hammers are considering sacking Moyes if Everton lose
West Ham are considering replacing manager David Moyes if they lose at home to Everton on Saturday.
Moyes is under pressure as his side have picked up just one point from their last seven league games.
While it is acknowledged that Moyes did a good job, much more was expected after West Ham spent £160m in the transfer window last summer.
They are 18th and only goal difference keeps them off the bottom of the Premier League table.
In the last two seasons, West Ham have finished seventh and sixth under Moyes.
