Good morning Man United fans
Manchester United were held by Crystal Palace to a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal.
United opened the scoring in the 43rd minute with a cool finish from Bruno Fernandes.
Marcus Rashford released Christian Eriksen from the left with a clever cross and the Denmark international curled in a cross that found Fernandes for the goal.
But Palace equalized late in the first minute of stoppage time with a stunning Michael Olisse free-kick.
United missed the chance to overtake rivals Manchester City into second place and will now face the Gunners without Casemiro, who was suspended after picking up another booking.
Meanwhile, the UK’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has joined the race to buy United from the Glazer family.
United were put up for sale back in November, but their unpopular owners are still waiting to find a suitable buyer for the club.
However, according to The Times, Ratcliffe has confirmed that he is in the running to take over from the Americans.
Offers are also expected from the US, the Middle East and Asia, but the 70-year-old is the first to publicly express interest.
A spokesman said: “We have formally joined the process.”
Official bidding will take place early next month with a view to a change of ownership before the end of the current season.
But a potential takeover can only happen if the Glazers agree a price and are believed to be seeking more than £5bn.
Ratcliffe, who is worth £15bn, first revealed his interest in buying the club last year.
And United ace Jaden Sancho has finally returned to first-team training.
Sancho has been training based on a personal training plan that was laid out by manager Erik ten Hag in November.
The winger traveled to the Netherlands during the 2022 World Cup and linked up with coaches Ten Haag has worked with in the past.
The England international then returned to Carrington last week and The Athletic revealed he attended first-team training on Tuesday.
Finally, United’s hopes of signing Borussia Mönchengladbach star Jan Sommer have all but ended with the goalkeeper set to sign for Bayern Munich.
United are keen to sign a goalkeeper, with David de Gea’s future at Old Trafford in doubt as his contract expires in June.
United have targeted Sommer before January as his contract at Gladbach also expires.
However, according to SPORT1, the Swiss international has agreed a deal with Bayern and has flown to Munich to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper.
