Norfolk: Man dies after crash on Downham Market A1122

A man in his 30s has died following a five-car crash on the A1122 in Downham Market.

Two other drivers were seriously injured and remain in hospital in critical condition.

Emergency services were called to the scene just outside Anvil Lodge at around 6.30am on Wednesday (January 18).

The incident involved a blue Vauxhall Nova, a white Scania HGV, a blue BMW 5 Series, a white Volkswagen Passat and a white Iveco Daily.

The driver of the Iveco died on the spot, and another driver suffered minor injuries.

One person was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance.

The A1122, from St John’s Way to Downham Road, was completely closed to traffic in both directions for most of the day following the crash.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage of either vehicle being driven before the collision.
