Six fire trucks attend a fire at a private school.
Crews were called just before 12.30pm this afternoon to Claremont School on the A21 Ebden’s Hill, near Hastings.
One witness saw “a lot of smoke” from the entrance of the school opposite and said traffic had come to a standstill.
She said they decided to turn away from Hastings as “the smoke was getting thicker”.
The fire appeared to be from a smaller building on the school grounds.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 12.26pm to smoke and flames seen in a roof in Ebdens Hill, Westfield.
“Firefighters from Bohemia Road The Ridge, Bexhill, Battle and Hertsmonceux attended.

The A21 is closed while emergency services tackle the fire.
