Surfaces such as highways, roads, trails and parking lots can become icy and slippery. Freezing rain can create thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Reduce driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and keep a safe distance.
Freezing sleet warnings are issued when sleet falling in sub-freezing temperatures is expected to freeze on contact and create icy surfaces over time.
