A 69-year-old Ottawa man died after a head-on vehicle collision Friday near Lake of the Two Rivers in Algonquin Park.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the collision happened around 1 p.m. on Highway 60.

Patrick Lakanen was killed when the SUV he was driving collided with a pickup truck. Lakanen was alone, traveling east on the highway. The occupants of the westbound pickup — a 44-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger, both of Madawaska Valley Township — were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Part of the highway was closed for about 12 hours. Police are continuing to investigate the collision and are asking anyone with information to contact the Killaloe OPP detachment at 613-757-2600 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
