Ontario snowstorm: Bus and school cancellations on board

Much of southern Ontario will be affected by a heavy snowstorm Wednesday afternoon.

Up to 20 centimeters of snow is expected to fall in some areas. As a result, some school boards decided to cancel classes and some bus routes were delayed or stopped.

Here’s what you need to know from every school board. The list will be updated as information becomes available.

Toronto District School Board (TDSB)

Buses are running and all schools are open. The TDSB warns that there may be weather-related delays in the afternoon.

Parents are encouraged to check this website for updates on transportation delays.

Toronto Catholic District School Board:

School buses are running and classes are open for face-to-face learning.

The board also advised that there could be “significant weather-related delays.”

Peel District School Board

All buses in Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3 are running. Parents are urged to check this website for delays.

Halton District School Board

Buses are running and classes are open; although delays are possible. Parents can find updates here.

York Region District School Board

No updates have been provided by this school board. All classes and buses appear to be operating normally.

Durham District School Board

No updates have been provided by this school board. All classes and buses appear to be operating normally.

Niagara District School Board

Buses have been canceled due to the snow, and proms and capstone activities have been rescheduled for Thursday.

Niagara Catholic District School Board

Buses are canceled but schools remain open. However, graduations and culminating activities are postponed until tomorrow.

“Please report your child’s absence if you keep them at home,” the council urges.
