The huge fee Matt Hancock earned for swapping Westminster on I’m A Celebrity and how much he will donate to charity has been revealed.

The MP appeared in last year’s Juggernaut series, alongside radio DJ Chris Moyles, pop star Boy George and Strictly Come Dancing star Sean Walsh.

Although the disgraced politician’s decision to sign up for the show and be given the chance of a ‘redemptive arc’ by ITV was criticized by the nation, it was a surprise when he made it through to the final, coming third.

Among the criticism leveled at him was choosing to leave his electorate during the cost of living crisis to appear on television and the ongoing fallout from his time as health secretary during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Conservative Party even suspended Hancock while on I’m A Celeb, while several of his campmates, including Charlene White, criticized him for his blocking mistakes.

It was previously reported that Hancock, 44, was set to earn £400,000 for his time, which amounted to several weeks, on the ITV reality series.

And according to the financial register published by the UK government, that rumor wasn’t far from the truth at all.

The Register of Members’ Financial Interests reveals that Lifted Entertainment, the show’s producers, paid him a whopping £320,000 for 30 days’ work.

According to the latest UK House Prince Index from November 2022, this is more than the average property price of £294,910.

It was previously reported that Hancock would donate a portion of the fee to support St Nicholas’ hospice care.

A representative told Metro.co.uk that Hancock had donated £10,000 to the Suffolk-based hospice

They added: “As well as raising the profile of his dyslexia campaign in front of 11 million viewers, Matt donated £10,000 to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association following his appearance on I’m A Celebrity.” …Get me out of here.’

Hancock also won £45,000 to star in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, for which he spent 80 hours filming.

It comes after the MP was attacked on the London Underground with a video showing him being called a ‘murderer’ as shocked commuters looked on.
