It’s day two of strike action at Memorial University with over 800 MUNFA members on the pickets starting Monday morning.
Docent and strike captain Carolyn Walsh hopes the strike won’t be long, but staff are in it for the long haul.
She says MUNFA is ready to come back to the table anytime.
Inside the university, the corridors, usually filled with thousands of students, were bare.
Classes taught by faculty members not represented by the Faculty Association are still being held, forcing staff members and students to cross picket lines set up at multiple campus entrances.
Strike captain and professor Scott Harding says students stopped by on the first day to offer their support and leave hot coffee.
He says they have received nothing but support from students who share their frustration with the way MUNFA is funded and treated.
