Windsor police: Man arrested after stabbing in downtown Windsor

A 34-year-old Windsor man has been charged with attempted murder after a downtown stabbing, police said.

Police were called to the area of ​​Ouellette and University Avenues around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say two people they believe know each other “got into a physical altercation” before the suspect briefly left and then returned to the victim and stabbed him.

The suspect immediately fled down University Ave. to Pelissier Street, making your way to Chatham Street West.

Police said the victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers identified the suspect and Major Crimes investigators located and arrested him in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday to face charges of attempted murder.
