There is an unpublished specialty of Norm MacDonald, says David Spade

Eight months have passed since the death of one of the funniest and most revered comedians in the world, Norm MacDonald. His shocking death was another blow to a decade filled with them, a reminder that while COVID is ravaging the global population, other deadly diseases, such as cancer, remain just as brutal.

Even while battling the disease in private, Norm never stopped working, ending up recording another special comedy before his death. According to Vulture, last week’s Netflix Is A Joke festival hosted a memorial to the late comedian, which included a tribute to Conan O’Brien, Molly Shannon and Jim Downey. Other attendees included Bill Murray, Adam Sandler and “The woman who cared for Norm Kitty’s ancient cat while he was on the road,” CTV reported. The tribute was filmed and may appear on Netflix at some point, God willing.

According to David Spade, he and five others were escorted to a private screening room to see Norm’s latest special film since the show. Spade explained, “We were isolated in another room, another whole building, where six of us watched his special film.” Spade, who told the story in Dana Carvey’s Fly On The Wall podcast, said that while the show was not polished, it it’s still “classic Norm stuff” and “it was smoother than my special”. Netflix will use the footage for the documentary, Spade said. – I definitely cried.

Recorded during the pandemic, Norm’s special features sit, not making his set on anyone. Spade recalls, “He just said, ‘You know, I’m still trying to do my set.’ And he was getting weaker, which we didn’t know.” And they keep closing theaters and not letting it go. And then he says, “I’ll only let him go once, I’ll just say it out loud,” and then he never manages to shoot him.
