A construction company has been charged in a crash in Bari that killed 6 young people

Police in Barrie have charged a construction company in connection with a crash in Barrie last summer that killed six young people.

Police announced on Thursday that Con-Drain Company Ltd was facing six charges of criminal negligence causing death.

Early on the morning of August 28, police conducting a missing persons investigation located the scene of a crash on McKay Road, east of County Road 27, and found six dead.

They were identified as Curtis King, 22; River Wales, 23; Jason Ohno-O’Connor, 22; Luke West, 22; Jersey Mitchell, 20; and Haley Marin, 21.

Police later confirmed that the crash happened the previous day around 6 a.m. while the six victims were traveling to a nearby casino. Their car fell into a deep concrete pit in the area. The road was under active construction at the time of the crash, and the intersection had been closed since spring.

All six were reported missing before they were found.

As for what led to the charges, police said it was the result of a “thorough investigation and review of all available material,” but no further information would be released.

The company is due to appear in court next month.
