This week, on the last day of the month of the legacy of Asian American and Pacific islanders, Joe Biden invited the BTS key-pop group to speak at the White House on hate crimes against Asian countries and Asian inclusion and diversity. And Tucker Carlson decided it would be a good idea to make fun of him.
“Things have gotten very bad for Joe Biden, both publicly and internally,” Carlson said in a Fox News presentation on racism on Tuesday night. “What are they doing about it?” Well, they broke a glass in case of an emergency and invited a Korean pop group to speak at the White House today.
“Yes, so we have a Korean pop group discussing anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States,” he laughed after showing a short video. “Good. Good work, boys.”
Leaving aside the fact that Carlson seems genuinely incapable of believing that this appearance may in fact be linked to an increase in hate crimes against Asia in the United States, rather than the low number of Biden’s polls – and also leaving aside the fact that BTS’s huge popularity has brought a quarter of a million viewers to watch their live stream in the White House on YouTube – besides, Carlson apparently has no idea what he’s getting himself into, fueling the anger of the BTS army.
The hive of BTS and K-pop looms in general has proven its power many times in the past. They have been particularly adept at hijacking racist and right-wing hashtags with memes and fancams, from MAGA’s Millions March to Marjorie Taylor Green’s attempts to make #ImpeachBiden a trend. They also flooded ticket requests for a Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which led to embarrassingly low voter turnout, and overtook and shut down racist police applications in the midst of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
In short, don’t come for the BTS army. They are massive and organized and will destroy you.
imagine if this is the destroyed Tucker Carlson https://t.co/lGWAA6k9Gp

Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress are fighting over who holds the BTS more, and whether you find it sweet or a little fragile, it’s certainly infinitely better than Tucker Carlson’s approach.

If you are a real fan, what is your bias? And don’t ask your staff.
