Student attacked by a bird

A UBC student Okanagan says he was attacked for three days in a row while returning from class.

The attacker is a black bird.

Wesley Thurcott says that while walking on Myron Road in Rutland, the same black bird repeatedly rushes to him and bites his head.

“It simply came to our notice then. The bird just follows me all the way. There were actually two on the first day. I’m not an expert on birds, but it seems that her partner was right next to him on the ground. It definitely shocked me the first time it happened. It sounded like the biggest bee in my life just flew past my head. It shocks me pretty well. “

While recording the video, Thurcott says a woman mentions that her dogs and children were also attacked by the black bird as they passed.

Thurcott says he noticed a nest in a tree nearby.

He says he will continue on the same path home.

“I guess it’s humorous rather than awkward.”

Bird expert Douglas Graham advised residents to avoid the area.

“He has a nest nearby and all the birds protect their nests a lot. Even more so when there are young in the nest. They will attack humans if they are close to the nest. The best thing to do is to avoid the area where the nest is. You can be sure that there is a nest within 20 or 30 meters of the place where it was attacked, stay away from this area for another three to four weeks, “he said.
