A fire broke out in a residential building in the Westdale area, another fire in the city of Hamilton in the last two days.

The Hamilton Fire Department is on the scene of a fire in the Glen Rd building. between Tope Crescent and Macklin St. North.

Firefighters arrived and found a large fire on the 11th floor of the building.

Reports say smoke could be seen coming from a balcony upstairs, and teams say the unit suffered significant damage.

The fire was considered suspicious and the fire marshal’s office was contacted.

Fire and emergency services did not say if there were any casualties.

Only yesterday (June 18) a fire in downtown Hamilton caused extensive damage.

Empty four-storey commercial building located at 206 King St. West, burst into flames.

Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliff said the building had suffered significant structural collapse on all four walls.

Falling debris damaged an A&W restaurant building, as well as several parked cars in an area just north of the destroyed building.
