Shanghai has hinted at easing blocking measures as coronavirus infections fell to a three-week low, while the number of new cases in Beijing remained below 50, as a potential sign that authorities are beginning to control double outbreaks.
Cases in Shanghai fell to 13,562 for the fourth day in a row, although the city added another 48 deaths. While the financial center remains in an unprecedented blockade, leaving much of the city’s 25 million residents locked in their homes for a month or more, an official signaled on Wednesday that there may be some relief for certain areas.
