A new report supports the assumption that Google Pixel Fold will use a slightly different approach to display than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Display analyst Ross Young posted an update on Twitter about the likely screen of Google’s upcoming first foldable phone.
Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have folding displays of similar size, but the Google cover screen will be much smaller by 5.8 “. This should mean that there will be a wider ratio of countries than Samsung 6 , 19 “Fold 4. Hear more in our conference next week.

According to Young, the Google Pixel Fold is set to have a smaller external display than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and its likely successor, 5.8 inches instead of 6.2 inches.
However, Young says the Pixel Fold will still have a main display similar in size to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This means that the Pixel Fold’s internal display will have a much wider aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold range.
This last tip supports previous things we’ve heard about Google Pixel Fold. Back in January, we received information about the probable shape of Pixel Fold with animations that were added as part of the second beta version of Android 12L.
Then we noted that “this Google folder is much stiffer in its folded form than the current champion, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.”
In our review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, we complained that the main display is a little too square for its own good and that “it’s not optimized for most content.”
It seems that Google intends to reject these criticisms and develop the foldable format with its first flexible phone.
