School bus driver facing stunt charges had children on board

A school bus with children on board was stopped for speeding northwest of Ottawa on Tuesday, and its driver faces charges of driving a stuntman, police said.

The OPP of Upper Ottawa Valley said in a press release that a police officer caught the driver of the bus traveling at 106 km / h in an area of 60 km / h around 16:30 on Micksburg Road in Laurentian Valley Township, Ont.

The bus was confiscated for 14 days, and its 54-year-old driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle and exceeding the speed limit of 1-49 km / h under the Road Traffic Act.

His license was also suspended for 30 days.

“Alternative transport for students has been organized,” OPP said in an email Wednesday.

Police said one of the ways speeding becomes a stunt is when a driver exceeds the speed limit by more than 40 km / h, which is 80 km / h or less.
