3 killed, several wounded in an alleged terrorist attack in Greece

Three people were killed and several others were seriously injured in an alleged terrorist attack in the central city of Greece on Thursday, medics said.

At least one of the injured is in critical condition, and up to seven were injured in the accident.

Magen’s ambulance service David Adom reported the deaths.

It says medics took several other wounded to hospital. Two are in serious condition, one is in moderate condition and several others are in mild condition, according to the MDA.

According to police, residents of Greece said that two men attacked passers-by in a park in the city.

One of the attackers used a firearm and the other had an ax or a large knife, witnesses said. The MDA said the injuries did not appear to be from a shooting.

Police say officers have begun searching for the alleged attackers, closing roads in the area. According to eyewitnesses, the two suspects fled in a car.

Local authorities have ordered residents of Greece to stay in their homes.

The attack came as tensions between Israel and the Palestinians rose sharply in recent weeks amid repeated terrorist attacks in Israel and the West Bank, killing 16 people.

The military has stepped up its activities in the West Bank in an attempt to quell growing violence. Subsequent raids sparked clashes that killed at least 26 Palestinians, many of them involved in the clashes, while others did not appear to be civilians.

After a deadly attack in the West Bank city of Ariel last Friday, the Hamas terrorist group has vowed that it “will not be the last”.

Earlier on Thursday, Palestinians clashed with police on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Hamas has threatened revenge if Jewish visitors are allowed to “storm” the holy site.

Palestinians and Israeli forces have clashed repeatedly on Temple Mount in recent weeks. The violence echoed scenes from last year, when riots on the ground helped fuel a war between Israel and Hamas-based terrorist groups led by Hamas.

Ever since the war in May 2021, Hamas, which has sought to destroy Israel, has threatened to fire missiles at Israel if it violates the organization’s “red lines” in Jerusalem. The terrorist group hailed its “deterrence” against Israel in the disputed capital as a key achievement of the war that led to widespread destruction in Gaza.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinuar said on Saturday that the terrorist group “will not hesitate to take any action” if Israel “violates” the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
