A shocking video shows a security guard at a smoke shop in California pulling a gun against a group of potential robbers, causing a four-on-one shootout in which one person was killed on Tuesday, cops and reports said.
The worker is standing behind the counter at the Smoke Shop in Compton and appears to be shooting himself in the face as he pulls a gun from his belt, according to a video released Wednesday by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office.
The four alleged thieves got on and tripped over each other as they ran to the back of the store and kept firing – sometimes inches apart.
The worker, who is wearing a “security” vest, is hiding behind cover, as a bullet shatters the glass window, the silent video shows.
The guard somehow managed to escape despite the attack, cops said, although he was treated at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and neck.
Two of the robbers, identified as Kahel Lundi, 23, and Keith Rachel, 21, remain at large and are wanted for murder, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
The failed robbery began on Tuesday at 18:54 in the store on South Wilmington Avenue, the statement said. About 30 minutes after the incident, police responded to a victim with a firearm at Martin Luther King Hospital, who turned out to be one of the robbers shot by security guards, the statement said.
