The gunman who attacked Dave Chapel on stage in Los Angeles was a “rapper who wants to be” with a character known for creating chaos in his apartment complex, former neighbors said.
Isaiah Lee, 23, was arrested after hitting Chapel while carrying a strange knife that looked like a pistol in a video attack on the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night.
Former neighbor Russell Taylor remembered Lee as a man who could be “shot in one word.”
“Whatever Chappelle said and didn’t feel, it wouldn’t be a surprise to me that he would say, ‘Hey, I’ll run and fix it!'” Said Taylor, who lived in an apartment in Redondo Beach, California. apartment where Lee lived.
“Do you know the slap heard around the world?” This is the type of person who would take action if you did something he didn’t like. “
Lee lived with his brother and his brother’s girlfriend in the apartment for about two years, but the landlord said only his brother’s girlfriend was rented and that Lee did not pay rent.
Taylor remembered the brothers arguing with each other and neighbors who had shaken the normally quiet street. Police have visited the complex several times on calls related to the group, Taylor said, and said he had personally witnessed police handcuffing Lee more than once.

“They will shout and shout in front of the street almost every weekend,” Taylor said.
“They always returned in an hour to the police station or the next day. It got bad here – threatening with knives.
The brothers often said they were from New York, with Taylor claiming that Lee meant bragging about “New Yorkers don’t accept any nonsense from anyone.”

The owner of the building where Lee is staying describes him as a “very problematic man” who comes from a very difficult upbringing.
“One minute he would be happy, and the next he would be in a drastic mood,” said the landlord, who asked to be nicknamed “Bobby.”
Lee has never been seen working, and Bobby said Lee Aaron’s older brother was evicted about eight months ago for breaking down a door in the apartment.

“I’m just glad they didn’t burn down my house,” Bobby told the brothers. Isiah Lee raps under the name NoName_Trapper and has a verified Spotify account and a song called “Dave Chappell”, but Bobby called both brothers wannabe rappers whose music is “just awful”.
“They’re criminals,” Bobby said. “It’s emblematic of how bad things have become in this state.”
