Toronto Blue Jays recovered Saturday’s most successful outfielder, Theoscar Hernandez, from a 10-day IL in time to become the 27th player in the game against the Cleveland Guardians.
Hernandez was removed for three weeks with left oblique tension.
Hernandez’s return will give Jace the much-needed offensive boost.

As Arden Zuelling of Sportsnet wrote earlier this week, “After returning from relegation to the minor leagues on June 5, 2019, Hernandez posted 133 wRC +, the top 30 in MLB. He scored .282 / .341 / .541 with 72 home runs, the 16th biggest in the game during this period. He was included in the All Star team and won two Silver Sluggers. No matter how you cut him, he is one of the best offensive players in the game. “
Hernandez was due to return earlier in the series, perhaps as early as Thursday, but after making a 3 to 7 in a few games with Dunedin, Jace decided to give him more time to recover.
