A man was stabbed several times on a York bus

A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed several times on a bus in the York Transit region on Monday afternoon.

Two suspects were waiting in a bus shelter near Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard in Thornhill around 1:15 p.m., when the vehicle stopped.

The suspects boarded the bus and immediately attacked the victim, police said.

They then fled the scene on foot.

At one point, police set up a perimeter to search for the suspects, but eventually stopped the search.

The victim remains in hospital, where he is in serious condition, according to police.

On Monday afternoon, the bus remained at the scene while detectives searched for evidence inside. Blood was also visible on the ground near the middle set of doors.
