When and where to see the lunar eclipse of Blood Moon in 2022

The first lunar eclipse of the year is about to happen this weekend. The moon will acquire a deep, rusty red color during this eclipse and hence the name bloody moon lunar eclipse.

People in the United Kingdom can watch the lunar eclipse of a bloody moon in 2022, if the weather remains clear. However, the weather is such that people will have to wake up early to see it.

A lunar eclipse occurs on the night of a full moon, when the sun, earth and moon are aligned and the earth is between the two.

The moon does not have its own source of light and shines because it reflects light from the sun. And during a lunar eclipse, because the earth blocks light from the sun, the moon will not shine.

Now comes the question why does the moon turn red during a lunar eclipse with a blood moon? The answer is that the light from sunrise and sunset on the earth illuminates the moon, giving it a blood-red appearance. Some of the filtered morning and evening light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere and reaches the surface of the Moon.

During the lunar eclipse of the blood moon, the moon is dimly illuminated by red-orange light that reaches the moon’s surface at sunrise or sunset.

The depth and hue of the red color depend on external factors such as atmospheric dust and clouds during the eclipse.

Now the question arises when will the lunar eclipse of a bloody moon in 2022? The lunar eclipse will occur on May 16, 2022, early in the morning between 2:32 and 05:11 in the United Kingdom. The first part of the eclipse, called Penumbral, will take place at 2:32 a.m., the second part, called a partial eclipse, will begin at 3:27 a.m., and the next and final part, a total eclipse, will begin at 4:29 p.m.
