With ongoing questions revolving around how PUB sets its fuel prices, the provincial government is providing more details this hour to review utility legislation.
The review will be led by a project team consisting of officials from the Ministry of Justice with the support of a number of other departments, including digital government and services in NL and industry, energy and technology, and transport and infrastructure.
The review will also include public consultations, including PUB, Consumer Advocate, NL Hydro and Newfoundland Power.
The proposed amendments would help to improve the transparency of the process of the Utilities Council involved in setting oil prices and to build a better understanding of what fuel price information is.
The review is expected to be completed by the beginning of autumn, and legislative changes will be addressed through the usual legislative process.
