6 new COVID-related deaths reported to PEI

Six more people with COVID-19 have died on PEI in the past week, according to a weekly update of the provincial pandemic.

All were over 60, including three who were 80 or older.

This brings the total number of PEI – related deaths to COVID to 32.

This comes as the average number of positive cases continues to decline. There were 899 new cases of COVID-19 since the last update on 3 May. The average number of cases for the seven-day period was 128.

This is less than 1,163 new cases – and an average of 166 cases per day – compared to the previous week.

Six people are in hospital for COVID-19. Six others were accepted for other reasons and were positive for COVID-19 at or after admission.

Outbreaks of COVID-19 remain in the following long-term or community-based facilities:

  • Atlantic Baptist
  • Beach Grove Home
  • Gilis Lodge
  • Maplewood Manor
  • The Mews
  • Villa Miskush
  • Tignish Home for the Elderly
  • Wejuwood Manor
  • Whisperwood Villa

There are seven childcare or early learning centers with COVID-19 cases or outbreaks.

Everyone stays open.
