A man jumped from the roof during a drug attack while people watched in horror

A man received leg injuries after throwing himself from a roof while trying to escape from police. Terrified residents watched the events on Thursday when the North Wales Police (NWP) organized a drug operation in the center of Rhyl.

Two suspected men tried to flee an address on Kinmel Street when officers entered the building, North Wales Live reported. One was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug crimes.

Officers brought in a fire-fighting cherry branch to reach the roof, while colleagues used bolt cutters to enter the side gate. Other officers stood guard at the back of the room. An air ambulance landed on the field in nearby Ffordd Las after one of the suspects fell from the roof. The helicopter was not needed as the man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital by ambulance.

The second man was later taken away after police searched the building. Officers remained on site to guard the room. A number of witnesses said they saw the man fall from the roof. A resident who lives nearby described how quickly the police operation escalated. “I was going to work around 10 o’clock this morning and there was a police car on the corner,” she said. “Then suddenly they appeared more and more, I’ve never seen so much.

“I saw a man on top of the old Accent Insurance building. I heard someone fell and the ambulance came. The one I saw didn’t come down, so the fire department came with a crane. When he came down, he was taken away by the police.

The Welsh ambulance said it was called to Kinmel Street at 12.06. He sent an ambulance to the scene, where the crew was supported by colleagues from the Emergency Medical Recovery and Transfer Service in Wales. “One man was taken on the road to Isbitt’s Glan Cloud, Bodeloidan,” a spokesman said.

North Wales police say they have carried out a drug order at the address. A spokesman said: “When officers entered the building, two suspected men tried to flee the scene through the roof. A man was injured in his leg after falling from the roof while trying to escape from employees. Emergency teams arrived on the scene and then transferred the man to hospital.

“After that, the second suspect was successfully searched and the man was arrested on suspicion of drug crimes. Officers have remained on site to guard the building. To receive the latest news from all over Wales, subscribe to our newsletters here.
