Ottawa Street Racing: Drivers Driving 90 km / h above the speed limit are charged

Two drivers, apparently racing on Strandherd Drive on Friday night, lost their licenses in a month and their cars were confiscated.

Ottawa police said on Saturday morning that two people were racing their cars on Strandherd at a speed of 150 km / h, 90 km / h above the speed limit on the street.

Both drivers are facing charges of street racing and have received automatic revocation of their driving license for 30 days, and their vehicles have been detained for 14 days.

This is the second weekend of the third blitzkrieg of the Ottawa Police Department’s Project Noisemaker, which is battling stunts, street racing and over-noisy vehicles.

Last night cops were in the Barrhaven, College Square and Merivale / Meadowlands areas.

Police say a driver caught driving at 118km / h in a 60km / h zone near Baseline and Udrof are facing stunt charges. Police also issued six speeding tickets, 11 excessive noise tickets and seven for lack of exhaust or improper exhaust.
