Staten Island, New York – A suspect involved in a shootout with two police officers died in front of a mall in Orlando on Saturday night, reports said.
The incident took place when a man allegedly in his 20s was asked to leave the mall in Millenia shortly after 7 p.m., WESH reported.
After leaving, the man pulled out a firearm and started firing, authorities said.
A police officer who does not work in the mall is chasing the man, while another officer on duty spotted him in front of a restaurant across the street from the mall. Orlando police said the suspect was involved in a shootout in the restaurant’s parking lot until he was mortally wounded, News 8 Tampa reported.
It was not immediately clear whether the man had died from police fire or from his own weapon.
