Marilyn Manson has been under investigation for sexual assault for more than a year, but after the case ended, detectives found no solid evidence to nail the rocker … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us that there have been “some problems with the victim’s credibility” that have made it difficult to build a legal case.
The cops are close to presenting their findings to the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office, which will eventually make the decision, but it’s hard to imagine that they will charge without the goods. Although we have been told that the case is unlikely to lead to charges, this could always change if new evidence emerges.
TMZ revealed the story, detectives from the Special Victims Unit raided Manson’s home in Los Angeles in November, carrying out a search warrant and seizing media storage devices – including hard drives.
Earlier, cops dug into allegations of abuse – including allegations that he locked women in a soundproof room in the home to punish them.
As we reported, Evan Rachel Wood, with whom Manson dated in 2007, has made many public allegations of abuse of the rocker.
In a shocking lawsuit against Wood by Manson, he accused his ex-mistress of writing a fake letter from the FBI, pretending to be an agent and alluding to the fact that he was under investigation.
Manson claims that Wood and her friend then spread the letter to other victims and members of the media to make it appear that he was in fact in trouble.

In early 2021, Manson was visited by cops and a helicopter was used to search his home after someone called for a welfare check … so he has had a lot of contact with law enforcement over the past year and a half.
As for the allegations, Manson continues to deny everything, and sources related to his legal team say they worked with investigators during the investigation.
