The husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Paul Pelosi, responded through a spokesman Sunday night to reports of his arrest in Napa County, California, over a holiday weekend for drunk driving.
Instead of taking responsibility, 82-year-old businessman and spokesman for the millionaire Larry Kamer turned to “false information” in mysterious news reports.
“Several news reports on Saturday’s road accident involving Paul Pelosi include false information,” Kamer said in a statement received by The Daily Beast.
The incident happened on Saturday night after Pelosi left “dinner” and was involved in a crash with a jeep that allegedly hit the screaming Porsche of Pelosi 2021, according to Kamer. Pelosi was subsequently charged with two felonies, including driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, according to Napa County reservation records.
Pelosi’s spokesman failed to respond to The Daily Beast’s requests for comment on what “incorrect” reports he was referring to and why Pelosi did not take responsibility for driving with disabilities.
“A previous driving offense, wrongly attributed to Mr Pelosi, is false and probably concerns an unrelated person of the same name. This mistake needs to be corrected, “the lawyer said in a statement. “There are also false reports that misrepresent the timing of events.”
Early Sunday morning, the millionaire was rescued from a detention center in the Napa Valley on $ 5,000 bail.
Although President Pelosi often opposes personal questions about former President Donald Trump, she said she would not comment on her husband’s DUI.
A spokesman for Drew Hamill told The Daily Beast on Sunday night that the Democrat leader in the House of Representatives would not offer a public comment on the incident.
“The spokesman will not comment on this personal issue, which happened while she was on the East Coast,” Hamil said.
