Cheryl Sandberg leaves Meta due to investigation, Burnout – deadline

The Wall St. The Journal reports that Meta Platforms chief operating officer Cheryl Sandberg may have been prompted in part to resign due to an investigation into the company’s activities, including a review of the use of corporate resources to help plan her upcoming wedding.

The review was ongoing in May, the WSJ said. The investigation also examines allegations that Sandberg pressured the British Daily Mail to “postpone” an article about Sandberg’s ex-boyfriend, CEO of Activision Blizzard Inc. Bobby Kotik, and a temporary restraining order against him from 2014.

“None of this has anything to do with her personal decision to leave,” Caroline Nolan, a spokeswoman for Meta, told the WSJ. Earlier, she said the Kotik issue was resolved.

The WSJ story also allowed Sandberg to “tell people that she feels burned out and that she has become a punching bag for the company’s problems.”
