TORONTO –

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on April 21, 1926 in Mayfair, London.

The then Princess Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten, son of Princess Alice of Battenberg and Prince Andrew of Greece, at Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947. They were married for nearly 74 years when he died on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99. age.

She ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, after her father, King George VI, died while on a royal tour of Kenya. Her coronation took place on June 2, 1953 and was broadcast on television around the world.

The Queen is the longest reigning monarch in British history.

She has four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. She has eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
