Former President Trump’s last White House adviser, Pat Chipolone, has repeatedly threatened to leave, the commission said, citing testimony from Trump’s son-in-law and former White House adviser Jared Kushner.

“I know he and he and the team always said to each other, ‘Oh, we’re going to resign. We won’t be here if that happens, if that happens, so I kind of took it easy to whine to be honest with you, “Kushner said, according to a video of his testimony released during Thursday’s hearing. .

“The White House adviser was so concerned about the potentially illegal activity that he threatened to resign repeatedly,” said Liz Cheney, the commission’s deputy chairman, during the hearing.

“It’s extremely rare and extremely serious. It requires immediate attention, especially when the whole team threatens to resign. However, in the Trump White House, this was not uncommon and was not taken seriously.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Kushner also testified that he believed those who threatened to give up could be “whining.”

The commission did not provide further details on the imminent resignations on Thursday.

The incident highlights an important moment in Russia’s investigation into the first half of Trump’s presidency. Special Counsel Robert Mueller documented then-White House Councilor Don McGann preparing to leave instead of halting an investigation ordered by Trump, and Mueller found that the incident met the legal threshold for obstruction of justice, although Trump was not charged.
