Jace loses a frustrating game

Yankees 4 Blue Jays 0

One of those games that turned into bad inning. In fact, it involved some bad calls.

Fourth inning 0-0. With one out, 3-1 pitch for Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo pretends to push him, but pulls away the bat. The ball is in the impact zone, but it is called a ball. Rizzo is walking. Later a pitch to Isiah Kiner-Falefa, low and far, he swung, but the first base judge called it no swing. Eventually he relaxes. The bases are loaded until Aaron Hicks doubles them. Later in the inning, Jose Trevino was hit by the ground in which he swung, but this was called a non-swing and hit battery. That brought Charlie out.

Anyway, it suddenly became 3-0. The Yankees would get another one in the sixth. This inning started with a flyball to the wall in the center, Ramiel Tapia seems to have managed to catch, but the ball bounced off his glove, hit the wall and returned to his glove. Something we couldn’t see until they showed a view from the left field line.

But …..

We have to score.

We had 5 hits during the day. Ramiel Tapia had 2 of them and our only extra-base shot.

George Springer took 3 walks. The only Jay who has a ball base.

And 12 times Jace hit.

The target was difficult, but we have to score a goal against the difficult match.

Manoah became 5.1, denying 6 goals, 4 wins, 1 walk and 5 outs.

Manoa is still a young pitcher and might be better at dealing with adversity. And Jace was constantly changing the signals from the kettle. Alec doesn’t like the communicator on the field, but maybe he could rethink it now. Every time there was a runner for a second, the signs changed, which is not unusual. Teams have been doing this for years.

David Phelps (1.1), Tim Maisa (0.1) and Trent Thornton (2.0) kept the Yankees off the board for the rest of the way, so we could, with some offense, get back in the game.

Jay of the game: Tapia (.109).

Suckage: Manoah (-.166), Vlad (-.109), Espinal (.113), Chapman (-.098) and Kirk (-.089). The four strikers in this group came out a combined 1 against 15.

Tomorrow Kikuchi (2-3, 4.80) will play against Severino (2-3, 2.80). The start is 1:00 east. Maybe we can try to score?
