No, this is not a workout: just days after announcing that her long-awaited new studio album Renaissance will be released on July 29, Beyoncé seems to have confirmed that the project’s lead single, “Break My Soul,” will be released tonight at midnight EST. 9 pm PST.

The artist updated his biography on social media on Monday morning to read: “6. WE WILL BREAK MY SOUL at midnight ET. ” The number before the song’s title seems to confirm that “Break My Soul” is the sixth song on the album.

Hawkeyed fans on social media have already noted that Renaissance seems to be a 16-song album. When Beyoncé first announced the new project last Thursday, she added the subtitle “act i”, suggesting that the Renaissance could be divided into many parts.

According to Variety, the new project will include contributions from OneRepublic songwriter Ryan Tedder and Rafael Saadik, a legendary hitmaker who has worked with Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo and Stevie Wonder, among others. Saadik is no stranger to the Knowles family – he is also working on the acclaimed 2016 album of Beyoncé Solange’s sister A Seat At The Table.

Although Beyoncé has contributed her talents to the latest soundtracks to King Richard and The Lion King, she has not released a solo studio album from the visually breathtaking Lemonade since 2016. She has collaborated with her husband Jay-Z on Everything Is Love since 2018. and released a live album from his historic Coachella set in 2019, titled Homecoming.

While some publications have predicted that Beyoncé will release a new song in honor of June 18th on Sunday, as she did with the 2020 Black Parade, Break My Soul doesn’t seem to have much to do with the holiday. However, for all workers who enjoy a day off on Monday, a midnight release tonight is the perfect way to end the holiday weekend before heading back to the office. Queen B really always means the hive.
