The driver was detained after aiming a weapon at the traffic

Victoria police have arrested a man after a gun was aimed at a driver who was on his way to meet his daughter for breakfast.

Victoria police arrested a man after a gun was aimed at a driver who was on his way to meet his daughter for breakfast on Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Douglas and Finlayson Streets by a signal that a driver had pointed a gun at another driver.

The victim announced around 9:45 am that another vehicle was driving in front of him and obstructed other traffic.

When the victim managed to pass, the other driver started shouting and pointing his weapon.

The victim left the area, reached a safe place and called 911, and also managed to use his mobile phone to take pictures of the suspect vehicle – which he shared with police.

Shortly afterwards, police were notified that a vehicle was parked in front of a business in the 3,000-block Shelbourne Street and the driver showed signs of injury.

His description was the same as that given to the driver in the previous accident, and officers arrested him at gunpoint.

They searched the car and found a pellet pistol resembling a pistol, as well as drugs and narcotics. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was taken to police cells for further investigation into drug damage.

Police said the car has a number of shortcomings that make driving unsafe.

The man was released on a court date and faces recommended charges of aiming a firearm and driving with difficulty. He also received a 24-hour ban on driving and tickets for both traffic violations and violations of the Cannabis Act.

Victoria police are still looking for witnesses. Call 250-995-7654, internal number 1, with any information.
