Shooting while collecting a trail in Texas left 5 injured

A third shooting took place after law enforcement arrived, the sheriff’s office said.

“At this point, it is believed that all the injuries occurred during the initial shooting incident, as there were no new casualties at the scene from law enforcement after the third shooting,” the press release said.

Four of those shot were transported to district hospitals, the sheriff’s office said. A man who was shot in the face was taken by air to a hospital in Tyler in critical condition, according to a press release.

“Only one victim remained at the hospital early this morning and is in critical but stable condition,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators are questioning witnesses and want to talk to the event’s organizer and security company, the press release said.
