MEXICO CITY (AP) – Two American tourists were injured by a crocodile in the Mexican resort of Puerto Vallarta when one went for a nighttime swim in the ocean and the other went into the water to help him.
The Civil Protection Office in the western state of Jalisco said Wednesday that the first American had been bitten on his legs, arm, abdomen and chest. The second man who entered the water to help had a wound to his arm.
The service reported that both men were given first aid at the scene. It said both men were from Colorado, but did not give a hometown for either.
Crocodiles are not an uncommon sight in the coastal wetlands and shores of the Pacific resort of Puerto Vallarta.
