Folie À Deux’ gets a Fall 2024 release date – deadline

EXCLUSIVE: After Warner Bros Discovery ditches Batgirl for HBO Max, it offers a silver lining for DC: Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, is getting an October 4, 2024 premiere date.

Warners already had a day of waiting for an untitled DC event film, so it’s no shocker to see Joker 2 wrap up in the first weekend of October: Warners took October’s domestic opening to a record $96.2 million with 2019’s Joker. the film grossed $335.4 million domestically and is the highest-grossing R-rated film worldwide with $1.07 billion. The Joker won two Oscars: Best Actor for star Joaquin Phoenix and Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir. The film was nominated for 11 Oscars, including Best Picture and Phillips for Best Director.

Deadline learned about this from a recent update on Comscore.

As indicated in Phillips’ social media post about the script’s cover in June, the sequel is titled Joker: Folie à deux, which is a French reference to a medical term referring to a mental disorder that affects two or more people.

We hear a December production start is on track for Joker: Folie à Deux.

As we previously reported, one of the reasons Batgirl was ruled out had to do with how it would upset DC’s multiverse continuity, which is slated to head into The Flash on July 23, 2023. Warner Bros Discovery, run by David Zaslav, is a serious DC brand that competes fiercely with Disney’s Marvel.
