Driver faces multiple charges after traffic stop at Wawa

A 24-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop at Wawa last month.

In a news release issued today, Superior East OPP say they stopped the driver on July 25th around 3:23 pm on Mackey Street in Wawa.

After an investigation, police say they discovered the driver’s license was suspended and as a result Brian Shorey of Wawa was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation, contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Penal Code (PC),
  • Fleeing from a peace officer, in violation of CC section 320.17,
  • Failure to comply with a probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Penal Code,
  • Driving while suspended, contrary to section 53 (1) of the Road Traffic Act (HTA), and
  • Fail to obey a stop sign – do not stop contrary to section 136(1)(a) of the HTA.

The accused has been remanded in custody pending the hearing of the remand “cash bail”.
