“Near zero” visibility is possible around the GTA this morning due to dense fog

Motorists are being urged to use caution on the roads during the morning commute as thick, dense fog blankets parts of the Toronto area.

A fog warning was issued by Environment Canada for Toronto as well as York, Durham, Halton and Peel regions early Thursday.

“Almost zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring,” the weather agency warned.

He said areas of dense fog were expected to linger through the early morning hours, with visibility gradually improving by mid-morning.

“Visibility can be significantly and suddenly reduced to almost zero. If visibility is reduced while driving, reduce speed, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop,” says Environment Canada’s advisory.

The fog warning ended for Toronto, Peel and Halton around 7am

In addition to the fog, Toronto is expected to be cloudy today with a 40 percent chance of rain or wind. The temperature is expected to hold steady around 3C, dropping to zero tonight.
