Special Weather Statement Issued: Toronto, GTA will see significant rainfall on Thursday

A special weather statement has been issued for Toronto warning of significant rainfall Thursday evening.

In its advisory, Environment Canada said the city could see 15 to 30 millimeters of rain expected to begin late Thursday afternoon.

“Significant uncertainty remains regarding the tracking of the Colorado low responsible for this precipitation. If the tracking of that low changes, the amount of precipitation could change as well,” the federal agency said.

The rain will turn to snow by Friday morning, Environment Canada said, adding that several centimeters of snow could be expected.

A special weather advisory is also in place for Peel, York, Durham and Halton regions.

The maximum temperature on Thursday will be 6 degrees, and on Friday – only up to -2 degrees.

The sun is expected to return in time for the weekend.

Sunny weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday with maximum temperatures of -3 and 0 degrees, respectively.
