Deerfoot Trail in Calgary closed after multi-vehicle crash – Calgary

A multi-vehicle crash closed Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary Friday afternoon. Calgary police called it a “serious injury collision.”

Around 3:00 p.m., the City of Calgary Department of Transportation said the accident was on Deerfoot at 24th Street SE, blocking the southbound and northbound left lanes.

As of 4:00 p.m., southbound Deerfoot was closed at Douglasdale Blvd/24 Street SE, with southbound traffic appearing to be backed up on Barlow Trail.

As of 5 p.m., the city said part of southbound Deerfoot has reopened at Anderson Road SE, but the left lane remains blocked.

A spokesperson for Alberta Health Services confirmed one person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
