It won’t compare to last Friday’s big storm, but a significant amount of snow is headed for Ottawa and will likely affect evening commutes around the city.
Environment Canada has issued a winter travel advisory for the capital, warning of heavy snow and reduced visibility starting Thursday night.
“Be prepared for rapidly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” Environment Canada said in a statement.
The forecast calls for total snowfall between 5 and 10 centimeters.
More than 20 centimeters of snow fell in Ottawa last Thursday and Friday.
The snow is expected to taper off to periods of light snow by Friday morning.
It will be mostly cloudy this afternoon and the expected high is -3 C. A wind chill will make it more like -9.
Temperatures will settle around -4C overnight, with a wind chill making it feel more like -10.
Periods of light snow will continue into Friday morning with total snowfall amounts of 2 inches. The maximum forecast for Friday is -3 C and the wind chill will make it more like -9 in the morning.
Friday night will be cloudy with a 40 percent chance of winds and temperatures will drop to -8 C overnight.
On Saturday – a mixture of sun and clouds and a maximum temperature of -2 degrees.
