Russian attacks on Kherson and Kharkiv left at least four dead | News about the Russian-Ukrainian war

An air strike over the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv killed at least one person, while three people were killed in the southern city of Kherson amid renewed Russian shelling.

“Today, the Russian army is shelling Kherson fiercely all day,” Zelensky said in a video address on Sunday evening.

“Two women, nurses, were injured in the hospital. At the moment there are reports of six injured and three dead.

The front in southern Ukraine has been significantly calmer since Moscow withdrew from the city of Kherson last November.

The region is one of four in the south and east that Russia claims to have annexed last year, although it does not fully control the territories and the regional capital is still under frequent shelling.

A rocket also hit an apartment block in Kharkiv, killing one woman, injuring at least three others and causing extensive damage, regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said.

Pictures from the scene showed a fire engulfing part of a residential building in the country’s second largest city.

Sinegubov said on Sunday that the attack took place in the central region of Kyiv.

“Three people are slightly injured. Unfortunately, an elderly woman was killed,” Sinegubov wrote on Telegram. “Her husband was nearby when the impact occurred and miraculously was not seriously injured.”

Sinegubov told Suspilne media that rescue teams were searching for another missing elderly woman who was feared trapped under the rubble.

“The fourth floor is destroyed. It is an old building,” he was quoted as saying. “We understand that the second and third floors are badly damaged. The whole part of the building is no longer habitable.”
