EasyJet has announced it will remove seats from its planes to address staff shortages as European airports warn of a summer of travel chaos.
The airline will eliminate six seats from about 50 of its A319 aircraft, reducing the number of passengers to 150. This means that it will be able to operate these aircraft with three crew members instead of four, reducing the burden of staff shortages.
According to European and British rules, airlines must have at least one cabin crew member every 50 seats, regardless of the number of passengers.
